In the spirit of not being completely useless with this new bright and shiny website, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I have just signed on with Fandemonium & MGM to write a trilogy of novels for Stargate SG-1 that we've temporarily christened Shadows with the first book The Power Behind the Throne . Set midway through Season 5 it'll be featuring all of your favourite team members (or mine at least), with Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson and Teal'c doing what those boys and girls do best. Without giving anything away, I sat down with the editor and suggested a storyline on a scale that simply couldn't fit into a single book, think of it more as a complete season crammed into about 1,000 pages. That ought to whet the appetite.

Primeval: Shadow of the Jaguar hit the streets last week looking exceptionally shiny and beautiful (and not only did it hit the streets, it hit them running - my editor the brilliant, lovely and charming Cath Trechman over at Titan informed me that it hit Number One on Bookscan, making it a serious best seller, and I am absolutely delighted, obviously) and this week Vampire Wars the omnibus edition of the Von Carstein trilogy snuck out when no one was looking. It's a hefty 750 page doorstop of a book, which I have to admit kind of impresses me when I flick through it. Timunmas have released the Spanish edition of Retribution, wrapping the entire series up, as I believe have Azbooka this month. We've just signed a deal with Piper Forlag in Germany for Inheritance, which is set to have a bloody red cover in sharp contrast to any of the other editions, which I rather like.

The last bit of news is that after a good 12 months of constant television viewing (hey I said I loved my job, right?) the fully edited text of Fantastic Tv has been delivered to the publisher Plexus and is gearing up even now to be unleashed on an unsuspecting audience in the late summer.

That's it for now, but as I have greatly reduced my time on messageboards and internet sites I am thinking of re-instating the blog, or randomly prattling away on the news page and setting in an RSS feed to do a weekly update on the writing of the first Stargate novel... mail me and let me know if you'd be interested in something like that.

Way back when I confessed that updates were sickeningly slow - no kidding I hear you say. Well, I did warn you. Since the last one we've seen the release of Torchwood: Hidden, a two hour and thirty minute audio original read by the seriously lovely Naoko Mori, and the first adventure of the Greyfrair's Gentleman's Club in the swanky deluxe chapbook The Hollow Earth released by Bloodletting Press in the US, and their second jolly, A Madness of Ravens slipped out down under in the wonderfully quirky anthology Daikaiju!3 edited by Robert Hood and Robin Penn. I launched my own fantasy world, Thera, with The Song Her Heart Sang appearing in The Solaris Book of Fantasy, Night of Falling Stars coming out in Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show and Ghost's of Love appearing in MeadowHawk Press' debut release Touched By Wonder. My essay on the classic pen and paper game Civilisation appeared in Hobby Games: The Best 100.

There's been a lot of new things bubbling away in the background that are coming to the surface now, for instance Primeval: Shadow of the Jaguar, a wild adventure for Professor Nick Cutter and the crew in the wilds of the Peruvian Amazon is about to hit the streets in March, Curse of the Necrarch, my fourth vampire novel for Black Library and Vampire Wars the omnibus edition of the first three, both due in the next few months.

I've got short stories coming up in the new DAW anthology City Fantastic and Blood Lite edited by Kevin J. Anderson, and most excitingly of all I have just signed a two book deal for an original crime series featuring Gabriel Rush for Full Moon Press in the US, the first of which, Snuff will be released in hardcover later this year.

There's a lot more going on behind the scenes at the moment, tied in to tv and computer game work, that I can't blab about just yet, and a whole stack of fancy covers and things to add to the front page later.

Short Stories and Articles

Mens Rea appears in the Apex anthology Aegri Somnia. Translated literally it means "a sick man's dreams." Loosely, it can mean "troubled dreams." My own offering is a genesis of a superhero story of sorts.

My Unnatural Life, a short and rather lighthearted article appears in the magazine Doorways #1.

Lies of the Flesh, a new warhammer fantasy novelette appears in the anthology Invasion! Released by Black Flame in June, this creepy little tale is very different from my vampire count series and totally unrelated.

My article on the traditions of British horror appeared recently in the HWA's handbook On Writing Horror alongside articles by Stephen King, Joyce Carol Oates, Harlan Ellison, David Morrell and Ramsey Campbell, among many others.

Novellas

The Hollow Earth

There are secrets held within the earth that should never be whispered, secrets like the location of the Catamine Stair, the endless spiral that descends into the hollow heart of the earth. When a demonic corpse is found crucified on the cupola of St. Paul's Cathedral the gentlemen of the Greyfriar's Club must face the truth - the secret is out.

Only 300 deluxe chapbooks were produced and are sold out with the publisher, each numbered, and signed by myself. An 52 copy hardcover Lettered Edition has also been produced.

TPB ISBN: 978-0-9768531-8-3

Temple: Incarnations

A man awakens in a filthy bedroom with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. Seeing an old Gideon bible on a nightstand, he finds a name to call his own - Temple. This is the story of Temple's quest for identity and purpose in a dying, decaying world.

By turns heartbreaking, enlightening, and surreal, T.M. Wright describes Temple's tale as "a story about Death written by a man who has clearly consorted with devils."

This novella comprises the four part Temple series published in Apex Digest issues five through eight, with a special introduction from T.M. Wright and an Afterword from the author.

Only 100 hardcovers will be produced, each numbered, and signed by T.M. Wright, and cover/interior artist Judi Davidson, and myself. The hardcover is being released without an ISBN as a purely collectors edition. An unsigned, unlimited trade paperback version will also be available.

Anthologies

Destination Prague – A Dr Who Anthology
Prague has its demons - a city saved from the ravages of war and the Third Reich because of its beauty, it is home to Rabi Loew's Golem, Rudolph II's obsession with finding the elixir of youth, scientific genius in the form of Kepler and Tycho Brahe, and the alchemical obsessions of Magister Kelly.

It is believed that there are magnetic energies whose lines intersect in Prague at several spots. Astronomy, astrology, numerology and magnetic forces have all played a role in building the city - but how will they influence its future?

This is the city rich in history, and full of potential - how will it adapt over the centuries to come? Will it have a glamorous rebirth or wallow in a dystopic nightmare? And what will be the role of the old superstitions in the new world?

For the Doctor and his companions, the answers to these questions are only just the start of further mysteries…

And a few hints of what is to come…

As well as a new novel for Black Library's Warhammer world, I am currently working on my own series of fantasy novels and novellas based in the world of Thera. I've already signed contracts on 4 novellas to be released in a single volume next year, and have an agreement for a short novel focussing on one of the key moments of Thera's history. I am working with Robert Sammelin on concept art for the characters and settings right now and will be leaking some of his art as teasers over the next year leading up to the book's release. Thera stories have already appeared in The Solaris Book of Fantasy, Touched by Wonder and over at Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show

I delivered Snuff, the first of a new crime series is due out in hardcover in the US later in the year. We're talking about the seedy underworld of Hollywood, pornography, exploitation, fetish killings and more in a very nasty little novel quite unlike anything I have written before.

I have three more Dr Who stories due out over the next 12 months, including Loose Change in Ian Farrington's Defining Patterns anthology, and Peaceable Kingdom in Keith DeCandido's Quality of Leadership.

I have just signed contracts with the US small press, Dark Regions, for a limited edition Author's Choice collection of my short stories,Mason's Emporium, which will feature reprints of my favourite short stories that are out of print as well as some new stuff that links into these, including the final Hoke Berglund story, more Thera and Greyfrair's Gentleman's Club stuff. This will be the first time almost all of these stories has appeared in hardcover.

I have just delivered my first non-fiction book, Fantastic TV, 50 Years of Cult SF tv, covering everything from the Twilight Zone through to Torchwood which will hopefully be out around the Summer.
