Three years ago Robert Sammelin and I sat down and decided to collaborate - in a way I've never done before. Robert's an incredibly talented artist (look at the cover of Angel Road if you doubt me) who is slowly making a name for himself with his cover art. Well, niave as we were we decided to do a Graphic Novel - and what that really meant was a few days work for me writing a story and 2 years of pretty intense effort from Robert to create the book - and it is beautiful. Seriously beautiful.
If you go to the bibliography page and scroll all the way down to the bottom
or click here and scroll downyou'll see the cover and a link saying LAUNCH MINI-SITE.
Do it. Now. Go click that link and look at the stunning work Robert did. It's a taster of the whole book. Come back when you are done, I'll wait.
Okay, thanks for checking it out. Stunning eh?
Well Robert published this himself, because of various heartbreaks with a couple of major publishers, and it breaks my heart how few people have actually gotten this - so for the next week I am going to offer a special deal... You ready for this?
Click on the link to buy Fragrance - do the deed and send me your address via the contact on the site and in return I will send you a unique paperback Steven Savile sampler... this will include extracts from unpublished work as well as a rare story, and won't be available for sale ANYWHERE.
The ONLY way to get this is via this newsletter. Each one will be signed and numbered by me.
The offer closes March 1st at midnight - at that point we will count the number of orders for Fragrance and print EXACTLY that number of books - no more.
So what are you waiting for?
Ultimate Thor
I just got a note from my good friend, and excellent new SF writer Shane Berryhill, who's new novel Chance Fortune and the Outlaws is due soon from Starscape in the US... well Shane isn't just an author - he's a legend in his own lunchtime. Curious? Read on...
"A year or so ago, Marvel Entertainment (Marvel Comics) held a contest for amateur voice actors to star in their straight-to-DVD animated feature film, ULTIMATE AVENGERS. Having been a lifelong fan of Marvel, and considering myself to have somewhat of a mimic, I sent in an audition tape. The DVD released today so I rushed out to video store to see if I had any presence on the disc. My faith was rewarded. I am briefly featured along with several other hopefuls) on what I would describe as a gag reel of auditions. It is hilarious. I was trying out for the part of THOR, so I donned my Viking helmet (a relic of Halloween 2004). I even roar at the end. Yes, that is right. I have joined the ranks of such stars of DVD and the internet as the three Chinese teens miming a Backstreet Boys song and the not-so-slim kid pretending to fight with a lightsaber. If you want a laugh, go check me out. Rent ULTIMATE AVENGERS. On the DVD menu, go to SPECIAL FEATURES and then choose VOICE TALENT SEARCH."
So what are you waiting for, go check it out and laugh at the Viking Helmet!
While you are at it, check out Shane's fine new website:

Laughing Boy
Back in 2003 I published my second novel, Laughing Boy's Shadow, in a limited edition of 250 copies. It has been long since sold out and getting your hands on a copy has been just about impossible. I have never seen a copy on Abe or on Ebay... until now:
Laughing Boy AuctionI hope this goes to a good home. The seller is trustworthy, so if you have been looking for a copy of this impossible to find book what are you waiting for?
